I am still alive..... I think
Hello! I am still alive, or at least some days I am. My husband has been transfered from Louisiana to Ohio, right now we are stopped for another few days in Kansas. While In Kansas we were able to revisit HPT for Summer Nationals for the NHRA I must say fast cars, burnt rubber, and dirt slinging are at the top of my faves along with fabric.
If only I could go this fast, to get the quilt shops! I have started a quilt using Vintage Modern for Moda. I just love the reds with aqua and cream. I would like to share a giveaway going on at Sew, Mama, Sew! There are alot of nice blogs and things for giveaway. have fun and good luck! Have a great day!May 12, 2012
Eye Candy
I have been frequenting antique malls, one of my favorites is The Rusty Chandelier I had purchased some furniture pieces from them several yrs ago,and have fallen in love with some new ones.I am really wanting to replicate this look.
I think of how much fabric this cabinet could hold. This cabinet would be nice for some of my collectibles. In the near future I will be sharing some before and after photos of things I have in my lineup of redeux list. Although sometimes I get so excited to start I forget to take the before photo,I am working on that...slow down. Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend,AmyApr 23, 2012
Vintage Goodness part 2
Finally my granddaughter was able to model the new rompers I finished. This romper was made from a vintage pillowcase.
This next romper was out of some cotton fabrics I had stashed. I think I have made 7 rompers so far, don't stop me now! I have 4 granddaughters and they all need grandma designer clothes. Thank you for stopping by. Have a great day,AmyApr 12, 2012
Just One More Dress
I promise this is my last post for today.I picked up a skirt at Goodwill and had to reuse it for a dress for the granddaughter.
Baby"S" wanted to model it before I mail it to my other granddaughter. I know it would seem this cutie gets all the pretties,,I have her model them since they are the same size. I am using the rest of the skirt for a halter top.
I just had to share this blooper.. baby "S" does really like sitting in the grass.
Ok,I am done posting for today. happy stitching,Amy
What a Beautiful Day!
What a beautiful day here! It is about 80 degrees, what better time to get my granddaughter to model for you all..She really likes the dresses. This is the pillowcase style dress I made out of regular fabric and some ribbons.
I have been waiting to get her to model the bubble halter top. I found the easy tutorial at Seaminglysmitten blog
The shorts she is wearing used to be a pair of pants that I dressed up using a tutorial from Crafty Critique blog
.
I hope you enjoy the photo's and find inspiration to make some pretties for the young ladies in your life..or heck the neighbor's :)
I am off to watch her swim.Ahhh the life of being "Gamma" have a great day,Amy

WIP #9
Hello! It's Wednesday?! And you know what Wednesday is right? it is Work in Progress over at Freshlypieced
There are alot of nice quilty things being posted there. I on the other hand, am not doing any quilty type sewing, more like filling the scrap basket.
My granddaughter seems to like wearing the handmade clothing just as much as I enjoy making them:)
This week has been productive,There are 3 pillowcase dresses.I just love this vintage case.
I was working on a top and the top gave me some aggrivation,so it will remain a WIP until I have more patience for it.
I found this quick and easy tutorial for a bubble halter topat seaminglysmitten.
The halter works up real quick andcan be adjusted to any size or a dress.I was eyeballing measurements for the grandbaby....she is 24 months,,,well this top fit a 6 month old.. haha was I wrong! my grandbaby would have been upset me trying to squeeze her into it.So,today is working on one that will fit her.I now have the printable pattern chart from Oliver+S pattern site.It will help me when I am sewing and the little one is not here:)
Happy Sewing,Amy

Pink Saturday
When I first started blogging about 4 years ago,I participated in Pink Saturdays at Howsweetthesound
It was fun seeing all the pink posts.I could not believe how much pink I have in my house and craft room.I think with 4 granddaughters I have more pink then ever now! When I go fabric shopping I always think, the grandbabies could wear/use it. that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
I know, I know on to the pink!! I have been sewing like a mad woman for the girls for summer.
First we have baby "S" in her tutu her mom made her thanks to Pinterest.
And again we have baby "S" wearing a pillowcase dress, with pink flowers and pink ribbon:)
Baby "S" is really getting the hang of modeling her new pink garments.
If ya need more pink please check out the other participants at Howsweetthesound
Thank you for visiting,Happy Easter and Pink Saturday to ya!
Split Decisions
I picked up some DS fabric at Joanns the other day.
Now,to figure out which outfit to make her..I am debating on a sundress with the gray as the ruffles and ties or tie shoulder top with bloomers.. geesh, maybe both?I also liked the pink colorway of check in this line, but the store did not have any coordinating fabrics to go with it:( bummer..Ok, well I am off to take the grandbaby to the pool:) gotta love this weather in Southern Louisiana.
Happy Easter!
A Dress Attempt
I had purchased a dress for my granddaughter and really liked it. So, I had to make another one in the same style.I used the dress to make a pattern. easy peasy..since the only thing needing a pattern was the bodice.the rest was rectangles and too much gathering.
I have to finish the bottom ruffle, but not before trying it on her to see if it was the right length.
I also love the pillowcase style dresses, some I have made with actual pillowcases like this one.And some others using the quick pillowcase method as posted here. This dress is for one of my other granddaughters so I have to hurry and get int he mail to her.
Thank you for visiting, have a great Easter!
